Founded 1891 as the Tabulating Machines Company by Herman Hollerith. Renamed Computing Tabulating Recording Corporation (CTR) in 1911, after merging with Bundy Manufacturing Company, Computing Scale Corporation, and International Time Recording Company. Renamed International Business Machines by Thomas J. Watson in 1924, as he took over as CEO.
